Panguni Uthiram is celebrated for 10 days in Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple, Palani. During these 10 days,in this temple various rural dances going to happen, like “Oyilattam, Thappattam, Dhidumattam,Velanattam, Samiyattam”etc., along with rural songs. The rural music is an important part of Paunguni uthiram festival.

The main feature of Panguni Uthiram is the offering of “Theertham” (Posts of Holy water) from Kodumudi. Lord Palaniandavar is given abhishekam with this holy water. The devotees carrying Kavadi to Palani sing Kavadi – songs throughout their ‘Padayathra’ and these songs are ancient oral songs.

Phanguni Uttara Festival in TTD Local Temples from 15th March 2019

The unique five festival of Phanguni Uttara Festival will be celebrated in the TTD local temples of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy, Narayana vanam and Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple, Tirupati from March 15, Friday, and special events are slated for March 21,the concluding day.

As part of the festivities, daily ekantha Thirumanjanam will be performed to the deities both the Goddess Padmavathi of Narayana vanam and Sri Pundarikavalli of Govindaraja Swamy Temple. Later in the evening Prakara utsavam, utsava seva and Asthana will be performed for both the Ammavari idols.

Temple legends and Archakas say that Panguni Uttara festival is performed annually after the day of Ekantham of both Ammavaru with Srivaru.

The artists of the TTD Annamacharya project will present cultural and devotional programs like bhajans, Bhakti sangeet and kolatas on the evening of all days.
