The temple has three ‘Gopurams’ with three ‘Praharams’. The ‘Gopuram’ on the south side of the temple is decorated with statues and contains five storeys while the other two entrances have no towers above them.

Pradosham Dates December 2018

Pradosham is one of the most important poojas for Lord Shiva. Pradosham is observed on both Trayodashi Tithis, i.e. Shukla Paksha Trayodashi and Krishna Paksha Trayodashi, in lunar month.

In Shukla Paksha (15 moon days from New moon to Full moon) and Krishna Paksha (15 moon days from Full moon to New moon) the evening of the Trayodasi (thirteenth moon day) between 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. is called Pradhosha. It comes once in fifteen moon days.

This temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams, is said to have been renovated by a King of Pallava dynasty. “Brindaranya” is the traditional Puranic name of Thiru-Alli-Keni now known as Thiruvallikeni or modern Triplicane.

1. Thirumanjanam is performed to Abisheka deity using Panjaper Pooja method. This is Ekanda Pooja.

2. Thirumanjanam to Urchavar (Procession Deity) is performed five times a day and during special festival occasions

3. Thirumanjanam to Varadaraja Perumal (Moolavar) is performed every Friday & during Hustha Star. Darshan is available

4. Thirumanjanam to Perundevi Thayar (Moolavar) is performed every Friday & during Uthiram Star. This is Ekantha Thirumanjanam.

5. Thirumanjanam to Chakrath Alwar (Moolavar) is performed every Saturday – Based on the requests of Public and devotees . Thirumanjanam in these shrines can be performed even on other days also.
